Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where pupils can learn, thrive and feel protected from harm.
Safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone across the Trust. We work closely with our schools, settings, local authorities and partner agencies to ensure that robust arrangements are in place and consistently applied.
Our Commitment
We are committed to:
- Promoting the welfare and safety of all children
- Creating a culture of vigilance and openness
- Ensuring that safeguarding concerns are identified, recorded and acted upon promptly
- Listening to pupils and taking their views seriously
- Working in partnership with families and external agencies
All safeguarding practice across the Trust is underpinned by Keeping Children Safe in Education (statutory guidance) and other relevant legislation and guidance.
Safeguarding Arrangements
Each school and setting within the Trust:
- Has a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and at least one trained deputy
- Follows a Trust‑approved safeguarding and child protection policy
- Ensures that all staff and volunteers receive regular safeguarding training
- Maintains effective safer recruitment practices, including enhanced DBS checks
- Has clear procedures for reporting and responding to concerns
The Trust provides oversight, support and challenge to ensure safeguarding arrangements are effective and continuously improved.
Safer Recruitment
The Trust is committed to safer recruitment and selection practices. All appointments are subject to appropriate pre‑employment checks, and recruitment panels are trained to identify safeguarding risks.
Online Safety
We recognise the importance of keeping children safe online. Our schools and settings have measures in place to promote digital safety, educate pupils about responsible online behaviour, and respond effectively to online safeguarding concerns.
Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
If you have a safeguarding concern about a child linked to one of our schools/settings, you should contact them directly and ask to speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
If the concern relates to the headteacher of a school; or local manager of a setting; or is about Trust; or if you are unsure who to contact, please email admin@claxtontrust.org.uk
